QUEEN’S PARK ESTATE CHRISTMAS SWITCH ON

The community Christmas switch-on was a fantastic success, driven by the ideas of a passionate group of residents and supported collaboratively by local organisations, councillors, and Blackpool CAN.

Residents designed the event posters, with distribution, planning, and execution supported by local partners.

The council provided funding for refreshments and selection boxes, ensuring a festive experience for attendees.

Local Ward Councillors arranged the Christmas tree and lights, creating a festive focal point.

Acting as the holding bank and event planning support, Blackpool CAN also arranged for Father Christmas, through Blackpool Carnival CIC, to attend and switch on the lights.

Over 70 attendees, including PCSOs and Ward Councillors, braved the wet weather to join the event. The local church band facilitated a carol service, adding to the Christmas spirit.

Leftover refreshments and selection boxes were later distributed to ensure everyone in the community could benefit.
